At the recent World of Web3 Summit in Hong Kong, Auki Labs founder and visionary mind behind the posemesh, Nils Pihl, gave the keynote address in which he spoke about Satoshi’s legacy. Spoiler alert: it’s not Bitcoin.

His prediction: in 2124, what humans will remember Satoshi for is giving AI and AI agents a sense of space. In the future, the advent of multiple AI agents (including self-driving cars, delivery drones, humanoid robots, AI companions, etc.) means that the number of decision-makers on Earth will grow exponentially, as will the number of nano-transactions. What we need is Spatial AI.

Crucially, our current physical infrastructure is already struggling to help humans and their devices navigate, especially in the biggest urban settlements on Earth. Our devices at present rely on GPS but this line-of-sight technology depends upon us being able to be seen by a satellite from the sky. This becomes much more difficult as the number and density of high rises and skyscrapers increase.

This is a common problem in the Greater Bay Area (the largest urban area in the world) and New York City, where GPS struggles to ‘know’ where you are from the sky. As AI decision-makers increase, we need a better way to help them have a sense of physical space, especially as urban settlement density increases. For example, AI robots need spatial semantic reasoning to be able to navigate complex spaces and answer questions about the physical world.

Now is the transition where digital information is beginning to live in our physical space and interact with the real world. We are at the dawn of the spatial internet however, our devices like your iPhone and robots have limited spatial awareness or inherent ability to interpret the real world. This makes spatial navigation increasingly difficult.

But what comes next after GPS? The answer is DePIN or Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks at civilization-scale for AI, which will be funded, owned and operated by the people, not by corporations or governments. The most important DePIN will be the decentralized AI perception network. This network of devices and sensors will allow us to exchange spatial data and value with each other collaboratively without compromising autonomy or privacy.

The posemesh is a tool for human empowerment and a harbinger of a future where AR and spatial computing enable billions of AI transactions. It solves the Spatial AI problem, reducing CPU requirements, and will enable billions of AI decision-makers and transactions for the spatial internet. The posemesh is the DePIN for AI perception and it’s already live.

About Auki Labs

Auki Labs creates posemesh domains: virtual real estate for shared augmented reality, allowing you to manifest your knowledge and imagination in the minds of others.

Spatial computing enables the anchoring of digital information in space, bringing the power of the internet to the physical world. The spatial internet is a tectonic shift in how we interact with computers and each other. It will be as transformative as the transition from PC to mobile.

Our unique solutions are powered by the posemesh, a decentralized and privacy-preserving protocol for collaborative spatial computing.
